Likewise, the EU’s Digital Services Act (DSA), enacted in 2022, includes a “Know Your Business Customer” obligation: online marketplaces must trace and verify their traders’ identities and contact details. This is meant to create a “safe, transparent and trustworthy environment” online by making it harder for fraudulent businesses to simply set up shop and disappear​.
